Dr. Silverman is not the main character in any of Robert B. Parker's novels. She first appears as Spenser's girlfriend in God Save the Child (1974), and later appears as Sunny Randall's therapist in that series. Consequently, readers experience her from two points of view: Girlfriend/consultant in the Spenser novels, and therapist/consultant in the Sunny Randall novels.
God Save the Child (1974)
When she first appears in Robert B. Parker's novels, she is still Mrs. Silverman and working as a high school guidance counselor in a Boston suburb.
Sadly, Robert B. Parker died in January of 2010. He suffered a heart attack while he was at his desk, writing.

There will be no more Spenser novels. I will miss them both.
